My lawn mower runs great when it runs.  It's only 2 years old.  The engine is a 6.75 Briggs.  The "fix small motor" place in town sucks.  I've asked around but nobody knows of an independent guy.  I don't want to be reduced to borrowing again.

The mower has new oil.  It has a new plug.  It has a new air filter.  When I pull the cord it starts easily  and runs strong.  I go to mow and it  konks out on me.  Twice I was able to  mow a whole gas tank full!  I thought that my problems were over!  The last 3 times I've tried I didn't even make to the place I wanted to mow.

Please tell me what is wrong and how I can fix it :-*

Would adding Stabil to the gas tank help? We have had to do that. I think it helps with getting and keeping gas clean and "stabilized".

I poured all my old gas on the fire ant  beds.  I've gotten the pliers and pulled off the gas line and let all he gas drain out before I refilled with pristine gas.  I don't know about moisture...

What I thing I'll do is ask the nice young man who likes working on my old truck if he can suggest a small engine man.  He might know of one.  I'll take the scythe to the places that need mowing if I have to.  I'm tired of asking my good neighbors to come to my rescue yet again.

Liz, for your same reasons, I went to electric mowers. I hated fooling around trying to get the gas mowers running all the time. But....It doesn't sound like the areas you mow are NOT conducive to them.  :'(
