Magnum didn't work right out of the box

I ordered several a month or so ago.  I put some into use right away and had 2 in reserve.  I started up a new one just now and it didn't work.  Motor hums but water doesn't lift.  I checked everything and nothing was amis.  I threw away the box.  I hope they'll replace it.

did you fill it with water before turning it on....?....empty, and look down to check if impeller is turning?  top ring in place?....'O' ring on the shaft for the filter on right?......is the little tube along side the shaft??.. unless the motors fried, it's usually something simple.....??......who'd ya get it from??....worse scenario ...but another, you'll always need it....then use that box to return the defective one.... ;D

I checked everything but I'll check it all again tomorrow.  I contacted Pet Mountain. I should hear back tomorrow.

I heard back from Pet Mountain.  I told them that I no longer had the box it came in.  The person said that they would definitely take it back and asked whether I wanted a replacement or a refund.  Now that's good customer service.  I only wish that they had more stuff I need, like shipping supplies.  As it is, I only buy Magnum's and Magnum filters from them :(

I'd grab another Magnum, if it was me.....invaluable filter for the fish room....

I told them that I'd prefer a replacement but if money back was easier for them it would be OK.  They're nice to take it back without the origional box.  At least I think so...

Oh yeah.  It arrived Wed.  They sent a shipping label for me to send the broken one back, too.  I plan to go into Hattiesburg Monday to FedEx, take some fishies to my LFS, and pick up my Pearl Gouramies.

Liz, what is it that you especially like about the pearls? I've never kept any.

They're peaceful, graceful. and if you give them a daily feeding of bbs the colors are beautiful but not gaudy.  I'll have 6 all together when I pick up the 3 from the LFS.

I do.  They like the higher temps that Discus require and the Sterbais Rams prefer and the snots tollerate and Angles think is fine and dandy (82F)

They're fun to breed, too.  You put a pair together and think you've gotten nothing and suddenly you see tons of little dots in the water column.
