More news about Charlotte Truck

She went back to the truck doctor today to have her timing checked.  The mechanic wanted to do it because of her tinkling valves when I went up hills.  He found out that the temperature sensor was bad,  making it run rich, and throwing off the timing.  (I think I got that right, it was bordering on Greek to me).  He also had a good EGR valve that he saved from an engine in one of his own trucks that needs a new engine.  He put it in Charlotte.

She now has a bit more pep.  She goes up hills with impunity without me having to build up a head of steam going down. Before I need to keep the revs up, going down but go easy on the gas going up:-[   She has no more  tinkling valves.  No more always on engine light that made me feel bad.  She should even get better mileage now too, if I'm not mistaken.

I am so lucky that I found this young mechanic who has vehicles like mine of his very own that he fixes up in his spare time, that he likes me, knows that I love my truck, and who goes above and beyond the call for me.

I bought the lovely old girl whose virtues were going unappreciated for $1500.  So far I have $645. fixing-up money in her.   Next I need to get a set of gauges.  My gas gauge already doesn't work.  Idiot lights are worthless.  Having gauges will make me feel better.    I want her to outlive me even if one day she needs a heart transplant (replace the engine).
Always move forward. Never look back.

It sounds like the old gal will have many more years left in her.... ;D....
